Community Development Initiative,
West - Phase 5 (CDI5)

The Project is being implemented in 33 villages of Borjomi, Adigeni and Akhaltsikhe municipalities located near BTC/SCP/SCPX sections of the pipeline.

Akhaltiskhe: Tiseli, Tkemlana, Atskuri, Agara, Zikilia, Sakuneti, Tsinubani, Tsnisi, Klde, Minadze, Ivlita, Tsira, Tskruti, Skhvilisi, Zemo Skhvilisi, Tskaltbila, Naokhrebi, Tsinubani, Anatkhevi, Julga, Varkhani.

Adigeni: Vale, Arali, Ude, Tsarbastumani.

Borjomi: Tabatskuri, Moliti, Tsikhisjvari, Andeziti, Tori, Sakire, Tadzrisi, Dgvari

From June 2015 Regional Development Asssociation (RDA) has gained the right to continue with implementation of the phase 5 of the Community Development Inititative project in Samtskhe-Javakheti region of Georgia. The project ends in June 2018.

CDI 5 is initiated and funded by BP and its partners in Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan, South-Caucasus-Pipeline and South Caucasus Pipeline Extension companies (BTC/SCP/SCPX). The objective of the Project is to build on the results achieved during the previous four phases and continue support to communities in target villages along the East and West Route sections of BTC and SCP pipelines, which in its turn will facilitate further deepening of positive relations between BP and communities.

The Project is being implemented in 33 villages of Borjomi, Adigeni and Akhaltsikhe municipalities located near BTC/SCP/SCPX sections of the pipeline. Borjomi (Tabatskuri, Moliti, Tsikhisjvari, Andeziti, Tori, Sakire, Tadzrisi, Dgvari); Akhaltiskhe (Tiseli, Tkemlana, Atskuri, Agara, Zikilia, Sakuneti, Tsinubani, Tsnisi, Klde, Minadze, Ivlita, Tsira, Tskruti, Skhvilisi, Zemo Skhvilisi, Tskaltbila, Naokhrebi, Tsinubani, Anatkhevi, Julga, Varkhani); Adigeni (Vale, Arali, Ude, Tsarbastumani).

 

CDI 5 envisages support to local communities through matching contribution and technical assistance. The following activities are funded under the Project:

 

  • Community infrastructure rehabilitation;

  • Supporting start-up businesses;

  • Supporting scale-up of small businesses funded in previous phase (CDI4);

  • Arranging Input Producer Demonstration Plots;

     

Conditions:
 

  • Community Infrastructure Rehabilitation: up to 20,000 GEL matching grant for Community Based Organizations (CBO) for priority small infrastructure rehabilitation projects. The rehabilitation is done by respective CBOs (creation and development of which is facilitated by the Program) who ensure no less than 30% of community contribution (in cash and in labor) and management of funded projects. Trainings and consultations for capacity building of CBOs are also envisaged.

 

  • Start-up Business Support: Funding profit-oriented start-up entrepreneurs at ceiling of 2,600 GEL. The contribution of 30% of total project budget (in cash and in-kind) is required. Free trainings and consultations are considered for skills improvement of entrepreneurs.     

 

  • Scale-up Business Support Activity: Funding successful entrepreneurs for expansion of businesses funded under the previous phase of the Project at ceiling of 2,600 GEL. The contribution of 40% of total project budget (in cash and in-kind) is required. Free trainings and consultations are considered for skills improvement of entrepreneurs.     
     

  • Arranging Input Producer Demonstration Plots:  Funding farmer groups with maximum 5,000 GEL for input (seeds, seedlings, plants) production, using modern technologies, and supply of quality raw materials to other farmers, as well as knowledge sharing. The contribution of 40% of total project budget (in cash and in-kind) is required. Trainings and free consultations of RDA experienced agri-specialists are envisaged.

 

Application Solicitation

 

Any citizen of Georgia above the age of 18 years living in the target communities is eligible to participate in the Program.

 

To participate in the Program, it is necessary to submit the filled application form to the RDA office.

It is possible to receive consultations at the RDA office, prior to submission of filled applications.

 

RDA will review the applications and select the best projects for funding.

 

RDA is particularly encouraging women and youth to actively participate in the competitions.
